Something is draining the battery but nothing is left on in the car. Had the battery, alternator and starter checked, all good. Then, strange things happened and nothing would turn off. First it said No Ford Key, but I had it in my hand. I am sick, I need to go to Urgent Care, get in my car and see the weird system info. That was $10 for nothing, and 2 weeks later my car would not start. The kid at the Valley Ford in Huron said I must be leaving something on in my car. I was told that there was no problem with the less than 2 year old battery, and no problem with the alternator. Being the 61 year old daughter of a Ford Tractor dealer, I put on my charger, and made an appointment to have my car serviced. Less than 2 years later, the car battery was dead. Thanks, Ford, for placing the battery where I can't get to it to replace it. The Ford service manager told me how to get it in to neutral to get it out of my garage to tow it to Ford. The 2013 is the first model year of the Escape's 3rd generation and proves once again that you want to avoid the first model year when at all possible.Ībout 2 years ago, my battery died. As the coolant hit the hot engine there was, once again, a threat for fire. Instead, in a somewhat unprecedented move, Ford sent tow trucks to pick up the affected vehicles and handed out rental cars while the owners waited for repairs.Ī few months later the Escape was recalled again because antifreeze could leak out onto the engine due to a freeze plug becoming dislodged. In July 2012, due to a fuel line that could split and leak, Ford told owners to park their cars because even driving to the dealership for repairs was deemed too dangerous. Within a few months of its release the SUV was recalled three times, twice because of engine fires. Notes: The 2013 Ford Escape has been in the news quite a bit and for all the wrong reasons.
